Today, hundreds of REALTORS® will embark on a journey that will end at the state capitol building in Hartford. The REALTORS® At The Capitol event is organized each year by the Connecticut Association of REALTORS® (CAR) and is intended to allow REALTORS® to speak to legislators on the issues that are important to our industry. Important News from CAR: More Property Condition Disclosure Changes
The Connecticut Association of REALTORS® wanted to bring to your attention House Bill 5087, passed by the legislature, which changes the Property Condition Disclosure form. A summary is provided below. Although the original bill was supported by CAR, the Association could not support the final version (HB 5087). Following a public hearing on the original bill, the General Law Committee tacked-on new disclosure requirements that went beyond a “Working Group’s” recommendations. In particular, the new requirement for home sellers to respond to a question pertaining to hazardous substances was not in the Work Group’s recommendations. Each year the Connecticut Association of REALTORS® awards scholarships to the well-deserving children of real estate industry professionals from throughout the state of Connecticut. This year is no different. In an effort to raise money to award the Raymond F. Gates Memorial Scholarship Fund, CAR holds an online auction. Congrats! REALTOR® of the Year
Earlier this morning at the quarterly Board of Directors meeting for the Connecticut Association of REALTORS® the CAR REALTOR® of the Year Award was handed out. The CT Statewide MLS would like to congratulate Mary Ann Hebert of Bannon and Hebert Properties for being awarded this prestigious statewide award. Mary Ann was nominated by the Greater Waterbury Association of REALTORS® and was selected from a field of six other nominees from around the state. Among her many accomplishments as a member of the REALTOR® community, Mary Ann was a founding Director of the CT Statewide MLS and currently serves on the Board of Directors.
