When the tax man came calling in April, I bet you were cursing the day you saw the calendar switch to April, but now that we’ve turned the page we can look back fondly on all of the memories we have of the month that was. Here at CTMLS April saw the continued roll out of CTReal Mobile with members of all backgrounds giving it RAVE reviews. In April, CTMLS launched the first session of our “From Contact to Close” webinar and live class which details the process of moving through an entire real estate transaction right on your tablet. In case you missed it we’ll be running plenty of future sessions of this class including a special version of it at the Apple Store at the Westfarms Mall on May 15th. So we really flexed our mobility in April. Towards the end of the month we readied for the launch of RatePlug our new member benefit that puts your preferred lender, literally, in the palm of your client’s hand. This handy benefit is quickly becoming one of the most used CTMLS benefits available to our members. What do you look back on April fondly about? Share it in the comments below.
If you’re waking up this morning feeling a little groggy from ringing in 2013 last night, you’re not alone and that is why we’re going to keep this one light and fluffy. Trying to digest any serious Connecticut real estate business this morning will probably make your head spin. Trying to write any serious business is already making my head spin. Last year is in the books and today is a fresh beginning. New opportunities. New partnerships. New successes. Today is the day where the sky is the limit and all new doors are open. So, seize today as the start of something new. In an attempt to help you with that, here are some of my favorite song lyrics that always get me motivated to grab the bull by the proverbial horns and get to work on exciting new things in the new year. All Will Be Well The Gabe Dixon Band “The new day dawns And I am practicing my purpose once again It is fresh and it is fruitful if I win But if I lose Ooh, I don’t know I’ll be tired but I will turn and I will go Only guessing till I get there then I’ll know Oh, I will know” ‘Till I Collapse Eminem “‘Cause sometimes you just feel tired You feel weak and when you feel weak You feel like you wanna just give up But you gotta search within you You gotta find that inner strength And just pull that s*** out of you And get that motivation to not give up And not be a quitter No matter how bad you wanna just fall flat on your face and collapse” Something Good Can Work Two Door Cinema Club “Let’s make this happen, girl you gonna show the world that something good can work and it can work for you. And you know that it will. Let’s get this started girl, we’re moving up we’re moving up It’s been alot to change but you will always get what you want.” Happy New Year from CTMLS What songs are you listening to this morning to get inspired and start 2013 right?
We recently conducted a customer satisfaction survey of our members to see what you had to say about the Connecticut Multiple Listing Service. As you are the people in the field using the system to conduct Connecticut real estate business, we wanted to get an understanding of how you see us and how we could improve. In that vein, I’d like to share some of the comments we received from our members and also get your opinion as well, if you were unable to fill out the survey. Please share your thoughts on how CTMLS is doing and how we could improve our services for you in the coming weeks and months in the comments below. We take your opinion very seriously and are continuously looking to improve what we are providing you so you can provide your clients with better service. Here is a sampling of the responses we received: “In this ever changing market of technology it is good to see that CT MLS stays on top of current trends and marketing practices. The online training that is offered is both relevant and convenient.” “I love that the CTMLS is a centralized database of information for the Connecticut Real Estate market. It’s ease of use and willingness to train and teach make it an asset and tool that is valuable to all Connecticut REALTORS®. I enjoy the level of technology offered and can’t wait to see what comes next.” “CTMLS is “Wonderful” if I need to search for anything on the market new or sold it is easy and informative. The reports are second to none.” “Prompt attention, expert advise, knowlegeable, courteous, a pleasure to deal with in a moments notice.” “I LOVE THE CTMLS – I BASICALLY SERVICE FAIRFIELD COUNTY. WHEN I TAKE LISTINGS IN FAIRFIELD COUNTY, I TELL MY SELLERS THAT I HAVE A NO COST BONUS TO SELL THEIR LISTING AND THEN EXPLAIN HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO HAVE THIS EXTRA COVERAGE AND A SPECIAL TOOL IN MAKING THE LISTING OPEN TO MORE AGENTS AND BUYERS.” So…now it’s your turn. What do you think about CTMLS? We’d love to hear your feedback as we continue to make improvements in the system to help you better serve your clients. Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Today, the CTMLS offices were visited by the ice cream man [see image above]. The staff in our office was able to go get a treat courtesy of our property management company. On an 85 degree and humid day this was a welcome respite from the day to day routine of work. This show of appreciation went a long way to brightening the staff’s day and attitude at work. It was a little thing, that probably didn’t cost the property management company a whole lot of money, but that had a tremendous impact on their clients, the staff of CTMLS. Why do I mention this? Imagine if you were thinking creatively and came up with an idea to surprise your current Connecticut real estate clients out of the blue with something special that would help them remember you. It doesn’t have to be an ice cream truck, although I am sure they would appreciate that, but it could be something as simple as a handwritten note sent to their home or as elaborate as a $100 gift card to Home Depot for some sprucing up around the house before it goes on the market. It’s the little things. Don’t believe me? Just ask anyone here on our staff that is buzzing right now about the ice cream truck outside. Trust me, it will make an impact. What creative ways have you used to show your clients that you care? Share them in the comments below.

Starting on this week, CTMLS will be initiating the bi-annual password reset for all of our members. This reset is done as a way to protect the data of our members and allow for a more secure MLXchange environment. Today, we’ve put together a step by step tutorial on how to reset your MLXchange password when you are prompted to do so when you login to the system. You will start by logging in as you normally do. Then you will be presented with the following screen: Click image to enlarge. Selecting Ok, will initiate your password reset, while selecting cancel will allow you to bypass the reset and continue in to the system. After 10 days of clicking cancel, you will be required to reset your password. On the next screen you will be asked to assign yourself a new password. Click image to enlarge. In the box labeled “Current Password” you’ll want to enter the password you having been using for the past six months to enter MLXchange. In the boxes labeled “New Password” and “Retype New Password” you’ll want to enter the password you’d like to use for the next six months. The “New Password” cannot be the same as the “Current Password.” After clicking Save on this screen you will be presented with the following screen. Click image to enlarge. Select OK from the dialog box and you will be granted access to the system. Please store your “New Password” in a secure location and remember that the CTMLS rules and regs specifically prohibit sharing of MLS credentials and doing this could result in a $5,000 fine.
